Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating a second arson attempt at a bar in the Plateau–Mont-Royal borough.
SPVM was already investigating a first arson attempt, early Monday morning, at Le club École Privée on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, at the corner of Milton Street.
And around 5:10 a.m. on Thursday, SPVM says officers responded to 911 calls reporting a commercial alarm at the same location. When police arrived, firefighters were already on the scene and at work extinguishing a small fire inside the business, authorities say.
There were no injuries. However, there were minor damages to the building.
“According to the initial information obtained by police at the scene, one of the commercial windows had been smashed and incendiary material had been located by firefighters, suggesting that the fire was from a criminal nature,” said Johany Charland, a spokesperson for the SPVM.
The SPVM doesn’t yet know if the two incidents are related. No arrests have been made in either case.

The investigation is still ongoing and the SPVM says its arson unit will take charge and visit the scene to try to understand the causes and circumstances of the event.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that suspects were arrested in connection with these incidents. No arrests have been made.
