Montreal’s new administration to hold first city council meeting

Montreal’s newly elected administration, led by Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada, will hold its first city council meeting on Monday, at Montreal City Hall.

The session marks the official launch of the council’s work following the recent municipal election.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we begin this new chapter for the City of Montreal,” said Martinez Ferrada.”My team has great ambitions and clear commitments for our metropolis. We are ready to deliver concrete results to meet people’s needs. I would like to salute our new President of City Council, Chantal Rossi, an experienced woman in whom I have total confidence to carry out her new responsibilities brilliantly.”

Chantal Rossi, councillor for Montreal North and former leader of the Official Opposition, has been appointed chair of the council.

“Serving the residents of Montreal North is a privilege that is renewed year after year. And today, it is with pride and humility that I accept the presidency of the municipal council. My door will remain wide open to work collaboratively with all my colleagues. Together, let’s pursue our mission: to offer the best to Montrealers,” said Rossi.

Residents wishing to participate in the meeting’s question period may do so in person at City Hall or online through the City of Montreal’s website.

The meeting agenda is set to be published on Friday.
