Multiple already-damaged vehicles set ablaze in St-Laurent: SPVM

A fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, where several already-damaged vehicles caught fire in a commercial lot.

According to the Montreal Police (SPVM), officers arrived to find firefighters already on the scene working to contain the blaze on Lebeau Street near Gince Street.

No damage was reported to the adjacent commercial building.

The site has been hit by similar fires several times over the past four years. The same business was also targeted in a comparable incident in 2023. This incident marked at least the fourth time the location had been struck.

In total, approximately 15 vehicles, most of them already damaged or non-functional, were affected.

The SPVM has secured the scene and confirmed that the cause of the fire remains unknown. No arrests have been made, and investigators have yet to identify a motive.

SPVM investigators are expected to meet later today to assess the situation and determine next steps in the ongoing investigation.
