Opération Nez Rouge provided over 1,800 rides home during its first weekend

By The Canadian Press

Opération Nez Rouge volunteers provided more than 1,800 rides home during the first weekend of its 42nd campaign – which started Friday, Nov. 28.

Specifically, 2,181 volunteers carried out 1,848 rides in about 40 sectors of Quebec, according to Nez Rouge on Monday morning.

The non-profit organization anticipates that the coming weekends, Dec. 5 to 6 and 12 to 13, will also be very busy due to holiday office parties.

Last year, throughout the entire campaign, nearly 20,000 volunteers ensured a safe return home for more than 20,000 partygoers. The goal is similar this year.

In addition to calling to request a ride home, it’s now possible to do so via the Opération Nez Rouge app.

The service remains free, but donations are welcome. And it’s always possible to become a volunteer.
