Montreal police seize $385,000 in drugs, dismantle trafficking network

Montreal police say a major drug trafficking operation has been disrupted after officers arrested two suspects and seized nearly $385,000 worth of narcotics during coordinated searches last week.

Montreal police (SPVM) carried out the operation on Nov. 29, targeting locations in the Ville-Marie borough and the municipality of Granby. Officers uncovered a substantial cache of illicit substances, including roughly 14 kilograms of cocaine, 30,000 amphetamine tablets and 15 kilograms of hashish. Investigators also recovered a Glock 17 handgun, ammunition and $27,000 in Canadian currency.

The suspects, 37-year-old Cody Ditcham-Couture and 31-year-old Gabriel Boulais, were arrested and appeared the same day at the Montreal courthouse. Both face multiple charges, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, laundering proceeds of crime, possession of counterfeit currency, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition and unauthorized possession of a firearm. They remain in custody as legal proceedings continue.

The operation was led by the SPVM’s Multisectoral Firearms Team (EMAF) for the East Region, with support from specialized units and neighbourhood police stations across the city.

Police are urging the public to continue reporting information related to drug trafficking and firearms offences. Anyone with relevant details is asked to contact 911 or their local police station. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Info-Crime Montréal by calling 514-393-1133 or using the online reporting system. Rewards of up to $5,000 may be offered for information leading to an arrest, subject to certain conditions.
