Man injured after dispute escalates in Montreal’s East End

A man in his mid-30s was injured Friday evening after a conflict escalated in Montreal’s East End.

Montreal police said they received several 911 calls around 5:50 p.m. reporting a possibly injured person on Nicolet St., near Sainte-Catherine St. E., in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

Officers found a 36-year-old man with upper-body injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he is in stable condition.

According to early information, the man was involved in a dispute with a 32-year-old woman, who may have injured him with a sharp object. The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital with minor upper-body injuries.

Police set up a perimeter for forensic technicians to examine the area. Investigators are expected to be on site to determine what led to the incident.
