Montreal police (SPVM) say three people are in custody and two are wanted after over 100 kg of cocaine worth over $2.3 million was seized on Monday.
Police say several searches were conducted in the boroughs of Lachine, LaSalle, Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Ville-Marie, and Saint-Laurent, as well as in the city of Lorraine on Monday.
During the searches, police were able to find and seize 102 kg of cocaine, 5 kg of heroin, 20 litres of GHB, $306,000 in cash, three firearms, two vehicles and other evidence. Police say the estimated value of the cocaine and heroin is over $2.3 million.
The searches were reportedly conducted as part of an investigation that started in July, in which police learned that the Toronto-area has been serving as a supply hub for drugs to be sold at a higher price in the Montreal-area.
The three people who were taken into custody — 49-year-old Michele Laddaga, 45-year-old Victor Julio Sanchez Medrano, and 38-year-old Lenin Garica Ciriaco are facing charges of drug trafficking. Laddaga is also facing possession charges, while Medrano and Ciriaco are also facing possession of proceeds of a crime charges.
SPVM says 40-year-old Rattana Sem and 37-year-old Véronique Plouffe are wanted in connection to the investigation. If anyone has any information regarding either Sem or Plouffe is asked to contact police by calling 911 or their local police station, or by calling Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133.
