Light snow falls Saturday in Montreal as cold weather lingers into Sunday

Montrealers woke up to a snowy start Saturday, as light snowfall moved into the region, adding a wintry feel to the city and reminding residents that December has firmly taken hold.

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies today, with snow beginning this morning and an expected accumulation of about two centimetres. Winds will reach up to 15 km/h, with a daytime high of minus-3 Celsius. Wind chill values are forecast to sit near minus-18 C this morning before easing to around minus-8 C this afternoon.

Light snow is expected to taper off later this evening, followed by mainly cloudy skies overnight. Winds from the southwest at 20 km/h will become light late this evening, with temperatures dropping to a low of minus-9 C and a wind chill near minus-14 C.

Sunday will bring clearing conditions in the morning, with west winds developing near noon at 20 km/h. The high is expected to reach minus-7 C, with a wind chill near minus-17 C. Clear skies are forecast Sunday night, with temperatures falling to minus-11 C.
