Montreal weekend brings sun, clouds, and flurries

Montrealers woke up Saturday to crisp, sunny skies, though clouds are expected to build later in the day as winter continues to tighten its grip on the city.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, today will be mainly sunny this morning, with increasing cloudiness this afternoon. West winds of 40 kilometres per hour, gusting to 70, will diminish to 20 km/h, gusting to 40, early this morning and become light by the afternoon. The high will reach minus-4 C, with wind chill values making it feel closer to minus-17 this morning and minus-11 this afternoon. The UV index will remain at 1, or low.

Tonight will turn cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of flurries this evening. Snow mixed with rain is expected to begin late tonight, with about 2 cm of accumulation possible. Winds will shift from southeast at 20 km/h to southwest at 20 km/h in the evening. Temperatures will rise overnight to plus-1 C by Sunday morning, with wind chill near minus-11 this evening.

Sunday will start with a few flurries or isolated rain showers early in the morning, ending by early afternoon. The rest of the day will see a mix of sun and clouds, with southwest winds at 30 km/h gusting to 60. The high will reach minus-5 C in the afternoon, with wind chill near minus-13. Sunday night will be clear, with a low of minus-12 C.
