Montreal’s Concorde Bridge closes after serious single-vehicle crash

A serious vehicle crash led to the closure of the Concorde Bridge in both directions early Tuesday morning, affecting traffic in the Ville-Marie borough.

Montreal police say officers were called to the scene around 6:40 a.m. after a vehicle was found crashed on the bridge with the driver still inside.

The driver was transported to hospital with upper-body injuries. Police say he was initially listed in critical condition but is now stable.

According to the SPVM, the vehicle was travelling north toward Montreal when it struck a safety barrier in the centre of the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation.

No other vehicles were involved.

The bridge remains closed in both directions as collision investigators examine the scene. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
