Man injured in shooting in Montreal’s Lachine borough

A 49-year-old man was wounded in a shooting late Sunday evening in Montreal’s Lachine borough, police say.

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) was called to an apartment building on Camille Street, near Ouellette Ave., at around 11:15 p.m. after reports that a man had been shot.

Officers arriving at the scene found the victim with a lower-body injury believed to have been caused by a firearm.

The man was taken to hospital conscious and his injuries are not considered life-threatening, said SPVM spokesperson Johany Charland.

Police set up a perimeter to secure the scene, and a canine unit was deployed to search the area for evidence.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
