Montreal police investigate arson at St-Leonard café-bar

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating suspected arson of a café-bar in the Saint-Leonard borough.

SPVM said they responded to a 911 call around 4 a.m. regarding a fire at a commercial building on Lavoisier Boulevard near Primot Street.

When police arrived at the scene, firefighters were getting the fire under control. They found some incendiary material at the scene leading them to believe it was arson.

“According to (initial) information, one or more suspects, would have broken a window to set the fire inside the coffee bar, then fled the scene before the arrival of the police,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for SPVM said.

No one was injured. There were minor damages to the building.

The investigation is being transferred to SPVM’s arson unit.
