25-year-old man stabbed in Montreal under unclear circumstances

A young man was stabbed Friday evening in Montreal under unclear circumstances.

The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) is investigating the armed assault.

A 911 call at around 9:50 p.m. led police to discover a 25-year-old man wounded by a sharp object near the intersection of Victoria and Bourret Avenues in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood.

“When police arrived on the scene, they located a victim, a 25-year-old man. He was conscious and wounded in the lower body by a sharp object. He was transported to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The circumstances surrounding this armed assault were not immediately known.

“A perimeter was set up to protect the scene for investigators and forensic technicians so that they could analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event. The canine unit was called to the scene,” said the SPVM spokesperson.

Investigators were conducting checks to find surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the attack.

No arrests had been made in the minutes following the attack.

The SPVM investigation is ongoing.
