Montreal police arrest suspect after gunfire in Plateau

A 22-year-old man was detained Tuesday after shots were fired inside an apartment building in Montreal’s Plateau–Mont-Royal borough.

Police say a call to emergency services came in shortly after 3:30 p.m. from the area of Sherbrooke and Saint-Dominique streets. Responding officers located a 29-year-old man who had been wounded during the incident.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and is expected to recover, as his injuries were described as non-life threatening. Investigators later confirmed that gunfire struck the interior of the residence and that several people were inside at the time.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting and is scheduled to be questioned by detectives. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
