Service resumes on Montreal metro after ‘communications equipment failure’

A “communications equipment failure” led to the temporary shutdown of the entire Montreal metro network for about an hour on Tuesday.

All four of Montreal’s metro lines were down around 11:15 a.m.

Service resumed roughly 60 minutes later — earlier than the 1 p.m. expected resumption time.

The communication failure was between the trains and the control room, according to an STM spokesperson, though the cause remains under investigation.

The equipment failure was reportedly linked to work at the Berri-UQAM metro, according to TVA Nouvelles.
