Man in his 80s dead after fall, possible ‘electrocution’ in Longueuil

By The Canadian Press

A man in his 80s is dead after falling to the ground in Longueuil on Wednesday.

The man may have been “electrocuted,” according to a statement posted on social media by the Longueuil Police Department (SPAL).

The accident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Springfield Street in the borough of Greenfield Park.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

“A scene has been set up and SPAL investigators have been called in to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this event,” the SPAL statement said.

The police department did not specify whether weather conditions—in particular, the freezing rain falling on southern Quebec—were a factor.
