Inmate at Quebec’s Donnacona Correctional Centre dies following attack

Two inmates in their 20s at the Donnacona Correctional Centre in Quebec were sent to hospital after being attacked by other inmates late Tuesday afternoon, according to Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The attack occurred at 7:30 p.m.
“One of them was pronounced dead at the hospital,” said SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville.
She notes that the second victim’s life is not considered to be in danger.
The Sûreté du Québec’s Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case and has visited the scene, along with the forensics unit.
The investigation is ongoing, Dorsainville said.
This is the second death to occur at the Donnacona Penitentiary in less than a month.
On March 3, a murderer killed another inmate at the facility.
