Royalmount mall bans dogs after cleanup issues

Royalmount mall officials announced the shopping centre will no longer welcome dogs, citing ongoing problems with owners failing to clean up after their pets.

Under the new rules, dogs will be required to wait outside or remain in a vehicle while their owners shop. Assistance dogs will continue to be allowed inside the mall.

Mall representatives explained on social media that the decision comes after attempts to accommodate pets proved insufficient, as issues with waste continued to occur.

Officials say the ban is not necessarily permanent, and officials will monitor the situation to determine what approach best supports a safe and clean environment for the community.
