A Montreal man accused of human trafficking has been arrested in Calgary, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) announced Friday.
The police agency says 33-year-old Neylson Benoit-Ancion was taken into custody in Calgary on March 12 with help from local police.
The arrest came just a few weeks after an investigation was prompted by a tip made to CrimeStoppers.
He has been charged with trafficking a person, obtaining material benefit from sexual services, procuring a person for sexual services, and advertising a person for sexual services.
So far, police have identified two victims. ALERT says additional victims have been identified and are asking them to come forward to police.
“As in the case with most of our investigations, our perpetrator appeared to have been traveling across Canada exploiting girls and woman for sex. For investigators, it becomes a challenge of reaching victims who may have left the area, but their information is valuable and we want to hear from them,” said Staff Sgt. Matt Pumphrey with ALERT.
Benoit-Ancion was released from custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 10.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers, which is anonymous.
