A 55-year-old man who allegedly attacked a man in his 60s with an axe and a knife Tuesday night in Sherbrooke will face justice on Wednesday.

According to information provided by Sherbrooke Police, the suspect allegedly attacked the 66-year-old man around 5:15 p.m. on a property in the Domaine Joly-Mont.

The suspect allegedly used an axe and a knife, causing the 66-year-old man to suffer “very serious injuries to his abdomen and head.” He had to be taken to the hospital.

The victim’s partner, who tried to intervene, was also slightly injured.

The 55-year-old suspect, who is known to police, was arrested at the scene. He will appear in court on Wednesday and will face charges of attempted murder, armed assault, and aggravated assault.
