60-year-old pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in Montreal’s Rosemont

A 60-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Papineau Avenue in Montreal’s Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough late Saturday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) say they received multiple 911 calls at 11:55 p.m. reporting a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle near St-Zotique Street East.

When officers arrived, they found the man lying on the ground with injuries throughout his body. He was transported to hospital in critical condition but was later determined not to be in danger.

Police say the driver, a 22-year-old woman, was in shock but was not injured and was not taken to hospital.

According to investigators, the vehicle was travelling southbound on Papineau Avenue when the pedestrian entered the roadway to cross from east to west near St-Zotique Street.

A security perimeter was set up and later lifted. Police say there is no indication of criminal activity in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the SPVM’s collision unit.
