Child found unconscious in a residential pool in Quebec City has died

The child who was found unconscious in the swimming pool of a residence located in the Charlesbourg borough of Quebec City on Thursday evening has died.

Quebec City Police (SPVQ) confirmed the child’s death Friday morning, stating that its investigation is continuing to shed light on this event.

On Thursday evening, the SPVQ provided few details on the sequence of events, but specified that 911 was notified around 8:25 p.m. that a child had just been found unconscious in a residential pool.

Upon arrival at the scene, police officers performed resuscitation maneuvers. The child was then urgently transported to a hospital, under police escort, in order to “maximize the speed” of the transport.

Investigators from the SPVQ were deployed to the scene to try to clarify the circumstances.

The investigation is ongoing.
