Jacques-Cartier Bridge closed during fireworks as international festival kicks off

The Jacques-Cartier Bridge will be closed for traffic Thursday nights during fireworks this month and early August.

Authorities say the closure will allow the spectators to watch the international fireworks festival which kicks of tonight.

The closure will be in effect from 8 p.m. to midnight on July 2, 9, 16, 23, 26, 30 as well as Aug. 6. The bridge will also be closed Sunday, July 12.

The sidewalk and the multipurpose path are completely closed between 7:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. during these events. Only pedestrians, strollers and people with reduced mobility have access to the bridge; bicycles are not allowed on the bridge.

Drivers are asked to consult the bridge operator website and plan their trip ahead of time.
