4 teens arrested after attempted robbery of jewelry store in Montreal’s Ahunstic-Cartierville

Four teens between the ages of 13 and 18 were arrested in connection with an attempted robbery of a jewelry store Montreal’s Ahunstic-Cartierville overnight.

Montreal police (SPVM) received several 911 calls at 1:45 a.m. reporting a break-in at a store on Fleury Street near Curotte Avenue.

“According to initial reports, several suspects allegedly smashed the storefront of the jewellery store using a sport utility (SUV) vehicle before attempting to steal jewellery from inside the store, but were unsuccessful,” said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture.

The suspects then reportedly abandoned the SUV inside the jewelry store before fleeing in a getaway car.

Police officers who arrived at the scene then intercepted a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses.

They arrested four suspects — all male — aged 18, 17, 16 and 13 years old.

The suspects were taken to a detention centre and will be interviewed by investigators.
