RCMP arrests 3 people in Laurentians in international drug trafficking probe

Three people were arrested in connection with an international drug trafficking case in Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians region last week.

RCMP says its officers arrested Sébastien Morel, 42, and Evens Pierrelouis, 50, both from Saint-Sauveur, and Rodrigue Gionet, 72, from New Brunswick, last Friday at a home used to import the drugs from Colombia.

RCMP said officers also seized about 67 kg of cocaine, as well as $115,000 in cash, firearm ammunition and several cell phones, among other items.

The three individuals face charges for importing and possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They were expected to appear at a Montreal court for a bail hearing on Wednesday.
