Montreal gas prices climb to 195.9 cents

Gas prices in Montreal are once again climbing toward $2 per litre, as the U.S.-Iran conflict continues.
Many gas stations in the area reported a price of 195.9 cents Monday, an almost five-cent increase over Friday when a litre of petrol cost 191.1 cents, according to the Regie Essence Québec website.
Since the beginning of the month, prices have gone up by more than 20 cents with analysts warning that prices could reach $2.10 by early August.
The gas price increase has followed a rise in oil prices ever since a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran ended more than a week ago threatening oil supplies.
Crude prices have shot up by nearly 15 per cent to US$82.62 a barrel Monday since the beginning of July.
