45-year-old man injured after being stabbed in downtown Montreal

A man in his 40s was hospitalized after being stabbed Saturday morning in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough.
The stabbing reportedly occurred around 4:00 a.m., following a “conflict that escalated between several people” in an alley not far from the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Chomedey streets, said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for Montreal police (SPVM).
Police found the victim, a 45-year-old man, a few blocks away, near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Marc.
“He was conscious and had sustained a wound to his upper body caused by a sharp object,” said Chèvrefils.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition but his status has since stabilized.
The SPVM has launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far. Officers have interviewed witnesses and will also review surveillance camera footage from the surrounding area.
