Quebec paramedics reach in-principle agreement with government

Paramedics and the Quebec government have reached an agreement-in-principle after more than three years without a collective bargaining agreement.
The agreement was reached with the Health and Social Services Federation (FSSS-CSN), which represents 3,500 paramedics in Quebec, including more than 1,000 at Urgences-santé.
“After six days of negotiations, we are proud to have reached an agreement that the bargaining committee will recommend to the members,” said Jean Gagnon, head of the prehospital sector at the FSSS-CSN, in a press release.
The agreement will be presented to members “as soon as possible,” the union stated, adding that no details regarding the agreement’s content will be disclosed until then.
For its part, the office of Treasury Board President France-Élaine Duranceau stated that the agreement “improves working conditions for paramedics and helps ensure that the public receives an appropriate, efficient, and continuous ambulance response.”
