Police investigating suspected murder in Huntingdon in Montérégie

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a suspected murder in Huntingdon in the Montérégie region Sunday night.

Police say they received a 911 call around 9 p.m. reporting an altercation on Wellington Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a man on the ground unresponsive with visible injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his death was confirmed.

SQ spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel said that a suspect who was allegedly involved in the altercation was arrested nearby after a search shortly after.

According to reports, the victim is a man in his 50s. However, police declined to identify the victim or suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
