Murder of Quebecers Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand: two men found guilty

More than two years after the high-profile murders of Quebec entrepreneur Daniel Langlois and his wife, Dominique Marchand, two American men have been found guilty in their deaths.
The jury deliberated for less than two hours before delivering its verdict Tuesday at the courthouse in Roseau, the capital of Dominica. Sentencing has not yet been announced.
Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Snyder Jr., pleaded not guilty to the murder charges following their arrests in late 2023. Their trial began in late June, more than two and a half years after the killings.
Langlois and Marchand were found dead in December 2023 inside a burned-out vehicle near the luxury resort they owned on the Caribbean island of Dominica, located between Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Lehrer owns property neighbouring the couple’s resort in the community of Soufrière. Court documents showed that Langlois and Lehrer had been involved in a legal dispute over the use of a public road that crossed Lehrer’s property.
A pioneer in the visual effects industry, Langlois had lived in Dominica with Marchand since 1997. The couple built and operated the eco-resort Coulibri Ridge, which overlooks the Caribbean Sea from the island’s rugged cliffs.
