NTP confirms tornado touched down in Repentigny during weekend storm

The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) has confirmed that a tornado touched down Repentigny during last weekend’s powerful storm.

NTP says that an EF0 tornado producing winds of up to 130 km/h moved through the area just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Drone and satellite image analysis showed that damages to trees and buildings. No injuries were reported.

Sunday’s tornado in Repentigny marks the third tornado in as many weeks in Quebec. On July 21, two tornadoes an EF1 in Harrington in the Laurentians region and EF0 in Saint-Donat in the Lanaudière region touched down during the summer storm.

According to NTP data, Canada has experienced 87 tornadoes, including six in Quebec, so far this year.
