A 27-year-old tree trimmer dies from an electric shock in Montreal

A 27-year-old tree trimmer lost his life on Tuesday after being electrocuted while cutting a branch on the property of a private residence in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
Montreal police tell CityNews that emergency services were called to Francis Street around 10:25 a.m.
The worker was found seriously injured inside the bucket of a lift after reportedly getting electrocuted.
According to Phuong Anh Ho Huu, spokesperson for the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), the man came into contact with a low-voltage Hydro-Québec power line.
Firefighters responded and brought the worker down from the lift, where CPR was performed before the victim was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
He worked for the tree maintenance company Asplundh Canada.
CNESST inspectors were dispatched to the scene to gather all information relevant to the investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
Police say the CNESST, Quebec’s workplace health and safety commission, is taking charge of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
