The City of Montreal and the firefighter’s union have reached a tentative deal on the terms of the new collective bargaining agreement, the City announced Tuesday.
The details of the deal were not disclosed as members are yet to vote on the agreement.
“This agreement will be presented to our members, who will vote on it in the coming weeks. The details will be released afterward,” the Montreal Firefighters’ Association said.
The firefighters’ contract with the City expired in January 2024.
Montreal Executive Committee President Claude Pinard said the deal came after many months of negotiations with the representatives of the union.
“We have managed to balance fair recognition of our firefighters’ work with our duty to protect citizens’ ability to pay,” Pinard said, in a press release.
The City is currently negotiating the renewal of other major collective bargaining agreements, notably those for blue-collar and white-collar workers.
