Quebec votes 2026: Your guide to casting the ballot

Voters across La Belle Province will be heading to the polls on Oct. 5 to choose their representatives in Quebec City.

Élections Québec says the 6.4 million registered voters will have several options for casting their ballot depending on their schedule and circumstances.

Election day voting Oct. 5

The agency says voting on the election day, Oct. 5, would be the most effective option that’s when it will set up four times as many polling stations across the province as advance voting days.

Eligible unregistered electors can register directly at the polling station and cast their vote on the same day.

Early voting: Sept. 27, 28

Those who wish to vote sooner can take advantage of the advance polling dates a week before the main day between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Voters can find the early voting locations by entering their address and plan ahead.

Voting at a returning office

People who may may be travelling for work or have to be away in a different part of the province can go to a returning officer to register and vote. This option will be available on Sept. 25, 26, 29, 30 and Oct. 1 starting at 9:30 a.m.

Student voting on campus

Polling stations will be setup across CEGEPs, universities and vocational training institutes on Sept. 25, 29, 30 and Oct. 1.

Some key information, dates ahead of Quebec’s October election

Voting in a CHSLD or a retirement home

Seniors living in a recognized CHSLD or in a private residence with a capacity of 50 or more people can vote at polling stations that will be setup in the common areas. Individuals who are unable to access the common area can request the voting team to visit their room in order cast their ballot.

Voting at home

Electors who cannot travel due to health conditions can request Élections Québec staff to visit their home. Requests must be submitted to their local returning officer before Sept. 21.

Voting by-mail

Eligible voters who are outside of Quebec temporarily can vote by mail. Registration to request mail-in ballots ends on Sept. 16.

Voting in remote areas

Voting teams also travel to some remote areas, such as workers’ camps or northern villages. Details can be found on the agency’s website.
