A man drowned Thursday in Picquet Lake, in Eeyou Istchee Baie-James, after falling from a boat.

Four people were on board. The man reportedly leaned to the same side as another occupant, causing the boat to capsize and fall into the lake. He did not resurface.

Another person also fell into the water, but was able to get out quickly.

Police were called to the scene around 4:20 p.m. Divers from the Sûreté du Québec are en route and are expected to begin the search for the body on Friday.
