Mackay Centre, Philip E. Layton schools in NDG closed Tuesday after burst pipes

The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) announced that Mackay Centre and Philip E. Layton schools in Montreal’s NDG neighbourhood were closed Tuesday due to water leak from burst pipes.

The EMSB told CityNews that only parts of the buildings were affected by the leak. The duration of the closures are not yet known as damages are still being assessed.

“We will know later if the building is operational,” EMSB spokesperson Mike Cohen said.

Students who were being transported by bus were directed back to their homes, the school board said, in a Facebook post.

The schools were scheduled to reopen Wednesday, the EMSB told CityNews.
