Montreal braces for a cooler, wetter stretch

Montrealers can expect a shift toward cooler, unsettled weather over the coming days, with showers, increasing cloud cover and a noticeable drop in temperatures in the forecast.

Wednesday will offer a relatively mild start, with skies clearing in the morning and southwest winds reaching 20 km/h. Temperatures are expected to climb to a high of 21 Celsius, with a moderate UV index of 3. Tonight will remain fairly mild, with a low of 14 C and increasing cloudiness toward morning.

The change arrives Thursday, when showers are expected and southerly winds will reach 20 km/h. The daytime high will reach 18 C before skies clear overnight and temperatures fall to 10 C.

Cloud cover will increase again Friday, with a high of 15 C and cloudy conditions expected overnight. The weekend looks considerably wetter and cooler.

Saturday brings a 40 per cent chance of showers during the day, with a high of 13 C. The likelihood of rain increases to 70 per cent Saturday night as temperatures dip to 7 C.

Sunday is expected to remain cloudy, with a 70 per cent chance of showers and a daytime high of just 10 C. Conditions should improve somewhat overnight, with cloudy periods and a low near 2 C.

The cooler trend continues Monday, when a mix of sun and cloud is expected and temperatures will reach only 6 C. Overnight temperatures will hover around 3 C.

By Tuesday, sunshine and clouds are expected to return, with a modest recovery to a high of 10 C.

With daytime temperatures falling from 21 C to just 6 C early next week, Montrealers can expect a more typical November feel. The coming days will be a reminder to prepare for changing conditions, keep rain gear close at hand and start thinking about colder weather ahead.

For now, Wednesday offers one of the last opportunities to enjoy a particularly mild autumn day before cooler, wetter conditions settle into the Montreal region.
