The Samuel De Champlain Bridge will be lit in the team colours of the Montreal Canadiens from sunset to 10 p.m. tonight to commemorate the state funeral of Guy Lafleur.
“This special illumination pays tribute to ‘The Flower,’ the all-time points leader among those who donned ‘la Sainte–Flanelle’ of the Montreal Canadiens. Guy Lafleur inspired generations of Quebecers and Canadians with his speed and athleticism on the ice, but also with his community involvement,” said a statement from Infrastructure Canada.

In 1980, the Montreal Canadiens’ legendary number 10 was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. He was also inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1996 and appointed a Knight of the Ordre national du Québec in 2005. His number was retired by the Canadiens in 1985.
Note: After 10 p.m., the architectural lighting will return to the blue-green illumination that reduces the risk of disorientation for birds during their migratory period.
