Montreal’s famed Hôtel Le St-James closes

Montreal’s luxury and famed Hôtel Le St-James has closed – citing COVID-19, health restrictions, and staff shortages as reasons.

The pandemic has made things tough on many hotels – and the St-James isn’t the first to shutter.

Since 2002, the St-James in Old Montreal on St-Jacques, has welcomed numerous A-list celebrities like the Rolling Stones, U2, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Madonna, and the Spice Girls.

It played host to many F1 events during Grand Prix weekends over the years.

The owner told La Presse that the hotel could get more of a “residential vocation” eventually.
