Quebec with 11 more COVID-related deaths reported in the last 24 hours. Hospitalizations with a slight increase of five patients and ICU numbers down by one compared to the previous day.

Health Minister Christian Dubé tabled a report on Tuesday that showed the health network spent $15 billion to fight the COVID-19 pandemic over the last two years.

The Public Health Act requires Dubé to produce a detailed report within three months of lifting the provincial state of health emergency – which ended June 1.

More than 4,500 COVID-19 contracts were entered into by the Legault government, with a total value of  $6 billion – more than half of which was spent on personal protective equipment (PPE). The remaining contracts were related to hiring, medical supplies, testing, and vaccinations.

Latest COVID data

15,467 fatalities total since the pandemic began.

1,012 people being treated for the virus in hospital – 76 new entries and 71 discharges.

Of those, 25 in ICU – with three newly admitted and four released.

A total of 738 new infections, with 232 tests self-declared by Quebecers who were positive. The overall case numbers likely an undercount as access to PCR tests is limited to specific groups and not everyone self-declare their rapid tests.

3,970 health care workers are absent from the system for COVID-related reasons.
