Hundreds of parents and children took part in the Splash and Dash event in TMR on Sunday, raising money and awareness for Sarah’s Fund for Cedars.
Founded in 2001 by Sarah Cook, Sarah’s Fund began when she was just eight years old and battling Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Sarah wanted to raise money to buy better pillows for the other kids being treated on her floor.
Since then, Splash and Dash has raised more than $3 million for Sarah’s Fund for Cedars, which helps children hospitalized on Sarah’s Floor of the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
The fund has also supported programs that have had a profound impact on young cancer patients during a difficult time in their lives.
At this year’s event, teams took part in an easy walk-bike-run triathlon challenge.
There was also a “Heroes and Celebrities Challenge,” where participants got to celebrate and cheer on the true heroes of the day: children currently undergoing treatment on Sarah’s Floor.
They got to wear superhero capes and took part in their own short race with local celebrities, including CityNews Montreal reporter Pamela Pagano.
Sunday was the 21st edition of Splash and Dash.
