Bus crashes into Montreal building in La Petite-Patrie, no serious injuries

An STM bus crashed into a building in Montreal’s La Petite-Patrie neighbourhood early Thursday morning, but police believe the driver may have been trying to avoid a vehicle that went through a red light.
It happened around 5:25 a.m., the bus was traveling westbound on Beaubien, near Clark, which was being used by a southbound vehicle at the same time.

The 54-year-old bus driver and 22-year-old driver of the vehicle both suffered minor injuries.
No one was inside the ground floor company of the commercial-residential building at the time, but residents of the above apartment were evacuated by the fire department.
No passengers were onboard the bus when the incident happened.
Authorities were waiting on an analysis by structural engineers before they can safely remove the bus, to further understand the extent of the damage to the building’s structure.

A temporary support was installed as the bus was removed after 12:10 p.m.
The bus was seemingly holding the structure up.
