Montreal teen sentenced for stabbing art teacher

A Montreal teen pled guilty to the attempted murder of a Montreal teacher in Quebec youth court on Monday.
The 17-year-old was sentenced to two years at a youth centre and one year of surveillance.
It all happened Dec. 9, 2021, around 10 a.m. when the teen walked in to a classroom and stabbed 42-year-old art teacher Maxime Canuel, at John F. Kennedy High School in Saint-Michel.
Witnesses saw the suspect attack the teacher.
Canuel was injured to his chest and shoulder – and underwent surgery.

The school went into lockdown after the stabbing and the student was arrested about an hour later.
The teen cannot be identified because he is a minor.
