Arsonists target two Saint-Laurent borough restaurants, Montreal police investigating

Montreal police (SPVM) say two restaurant-cafés in the Saint-Laurent borough were targeted by arsonists within 24 hours.

The latest, around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, calls coming into 911 about a fire at Bab Sharqi on Deslauriers street, near Benjamin Hudon.

Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control and discovered a Molotov cocktail.

A window of the building was broken, and the fire and water damages to the business were considerable.

No one was injured.

The investigation was transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad.

On Tuesday, Jounieh Café-Resto on Côte-Vertu Blvd. was also targeted.

A window smashed and a fire set.

Authorities found an incendiary object onsite that looks to have started the blaze.

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing. No arrests have been made so far.
