Skating has officially returned to downtown Montreal

Public ice skating has officially returned to downtown Montreal for the season, as the Esplanade Tranquille skating rink in the Quartier des Spectacles reopened Thursday.

The Esplanade Tranquille skating rink in the Quartier des Spectacles in downtown Montreal officially reopened Thursday for the season.

In collaboration with the 13th edition of Luminothérapie skaters can expect a new interactive experience.

Titled ‘The World of Lac Tranquille’ skaters will have the chance to get a glimpse of a fascinating imaginary underwater world and skate with fish, whales and tortoises, the interactive video projection done by mirari and Normal Studio, will have aquatic animals follow skaters playfully.

Located at the corner of Clark and Ste-Catherine, the rink is free of charge from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Sunday to Wednesday and until 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
