By News Staff

A 29-year-old woman was struck and killed by a heavy truck Monday morning, on Nuns’ Island.

It happened around 7:15 a.m. on Place du Commerce.

Montreal police (SPVM) say the driver of the semi-trailer truck made his mandatory stop in front of a small strip mall – but when he resumed his route, the pedestrian entered the intersection.

She fell under the wheels of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities right now believe the truck driver did not see the woman.
