School principal by day, comedian by night. Montrealer, Joe Cacchione, is juggling both once again – performing at Saint Leonard’s Leonardo Da Vinci Centre, continuing to make audiences and students laugh.

“It is just incredible,” said Cacchione. “You make people laugh, sometimes they feed you through their laughter with other jokes, with other ideas.”

English, French, Italian, and Spanish: the languages he can perform in.

But for his current show: “Le retour de la belle-mere,” which translates to “The Return of the Mother-in-law,” he’s making spectators laugh through his performance 100 per cent in French.

A show that’s a continuation from one he did 20 years ago called “Hurray, for the Mother-in-law.”

“We all have a mother-in-law, lucky are the ones that don’t have one,” said Cacchione, laughing. “For example, Adamo, the one that was created directly by God, he didn’t have a mother-in-law,” he added. “He was a happy man, the whole life, the whole life, then after that came all the mother-in-laws!”

Cacchione hopes those who come to his shows, bring their mother-in-law’s along too.

What he finds most amazing, that both his sons are involved in the show.

“To share your passion with your kids is a unique experience,” he explained. “It’s something that I wish all parents, all fathers and mothers to be able to do.”

A father, comedian, and a school principal.

“The principal side is what brings sanity to my life and to the family,” he said. “And the comedy is the craziness.”

You can catch the remainder of Cacchione’s shows at the Leonardo Da Vinci Centre on Jan. 14 and 15.

“Let’s have a good time,” added Cacchione. “Let’s also give the spectators a good time.”
