Winter storm warning in effect for Montreal-area

A winter storm warning is in effect for much of Southern Quebec including the Montreal area, Laval, Longueuil – Varennes and Châteauguay – La Prairie.
Environment Canada is forecasting five to 15 centimeters by end of day Friday.
Winds are also gusting 20-40 km/h Friday morning and are expected to increase to 60 km/h throughout the day.
For Friday the high will be -2 in Montreal but feel more like -11 with the wind chill.
“A low pressure system from Colorado is moving toward the province of Quebec,” said the weather agency. “Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.”
Environment Canada says this could impact your drive Friday during morning and evening rush hours.
They explain that “winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.”
The snow is expected to stop by Saturday.

Sun and clouds in the forecast for Saturday, high of -5. More sunshine on Sunday and Monday with highs of -6 and -5.
Flurries expected to return by Tuesday with a four per cent chance of snow. High of -2.
