REM will open to the public for the first time July 31

MONTREAL – CDPQ Infra announced Friday that the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) will open to the public between Brossard and Montreal’s Central station on July 31.
The final stage of preparation, dry runs, began on June 28, and CDPQ Infra reports that it will continue over the next few days. Teams will then be able to make the final adjustments.
Over the past 12 months, the 16.6-kilometer South Shore branch line, including the Samuel-De Champlain bridge crossing, has been completely electrified.

CDPQ Infra reports that the REM South Shore antenna will provide access to downtown Montreal in less than 18 minutes from Brossard. The REM South Shore antenna comprises five stations.
A total of 26 stations are planned to link downtown Montreal, the South Shore, the West Island, the North Shore and Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport over a distance of 67 kilometers.
REM cars are scheduled to operate 20 hours a day, every day, and will be connected to the three main lines of the Montreal metro.
