La Ronde reopens after power outage

La Ronde reopened to the public as of noon on Wednesday after a power outage forced the amusement park to close the day before.

Officials posted to Facebook saying: “Good news! The situation on site has been restored. La Ronde will be open from noon until 8 p.m.”

The power outage occurred at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, across Île Sainte-Hélène, where the park is located.

In an e-mail to La Presse Canadienne, Hydro said that the outage was caused by excavation work nearby, which affected an underground conductor.

The work was not carried out by the utility, said Hydro-Québec spokesperson Maxence Huard-Lefebvre.

La Ronde shared on social media that everyone was safe and no visitors were on the rides. Tickets from Tuesday can be used at a later date.
